The Power of Servanthood
“Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself by taking the form of a servant, And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:5-8)
Come and Rest in My PresenceContemplate Jesus - the Son of God and the Son of Man! Reflect on His humility and the powerful example of His servanthood. (Philippians 2:1-18)
“I am coming to you as a servant, washing you with My tears, opening your eyes and ears, and putting something in your hearts which will endure. I am not finished with you yet. There is still so much more I want to tell you. All I ask is that you open your hearts to Me, and rest in Me, content to love Me, and seek Me in the secret place of your heart. I will never leave you. I love you My children and My desire is to see you grow.” (Bell, p12)

“We want you to carefully select from among yourselves seven godly men. Make sure they are honourable, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom and we will give them the responsibility of this crucial ministry of serving. Everyone in the church loved this idea. So they chose seven men. One of them was Stephen…Stephen was a man full of faith and overflowing with the Holy Spirit. Stephen, who was a man full of grace and supernatural power, performed many astonishing signs and wonders and mighty miracles among the people. This upset some men belonging to a cult who called themselves the Men Set Free… They all confronted Stephen to argue with him But the Holy Spirit gave Stephen remarkable wisdom to answer them. His words were prompted by the Holy Spirit and they could not refute what he said….Every member of the supreme council focused his gaze on Stephen for right in front of their eyes, while being falsely accused, his face glowed as though he had the face of angel.”
Listen to what the Word Says, Obey and Share.
S: Compare the powerful picture of sacrificial servanthood in 2 Corinthians 6:4-11.
O: Do you long for your face to reflect the glory of God? Will you do “the thing that the Lord commanded you to do, that the glory of the Lord may appear to you”? (Leviticus 9:6)
S: Has the Holy Spirit put the right answers in your mouth at the right time? Will He do it again?
Be My Spirit-led Witnesses Your Testimony. Identify in your testimony the graces of God and gifts He’s given you.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 4:10-11)
