THE POWER OF FREEDOM
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)
Come and Rest in My Presence Rely on the One who breaks every bond! Have you visited a jail or a mental hospital? It is an amazing relief when you are get out! Same goes when you break the power of an addiction or a pattern of life-draining thinking! Romans 2:8 “the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”
“When we are faithful to keep ourselves in His Holy Presence, and set Him always before us, this not only hinders our offending Him and doing anything that may displease Him, at least wilfully, but it also begets in us a holy freedom, and, if I may so speak, a familiarity with God, wherewith we ask, and that successfully, the graces we stand in need of.” (Brother Lawrence, c.1614–1691)
Pray: Spend some time today saying thanks and praying for those still in bondage.
Receive My PowerReading: Acts 5:12-42 ESV Audio Bible
Extract: Acts 5:12-14,18-20,30-32,39-42 TPT
“The apostles performed many signs, wonders and miracles among the people and the believers were wonderfully united as they met regularly in the temple courts in the area known as Solomon’s Porch…Continually more and more people believed in the Lord and were added to their number – great crowds of both men and women…
So they had the apostles arrested, placed in chains and thrown into jail. But during the night the Lord sent an angel who appeared before them. He supernaturally opened their prison doors and brought the apostles outside. ‘Go’ the angel told them, ‘Stand in the temple courts and preach the words that bring life!’ You had Jesus arrested and killed by crucifixion but the God of our forefathers has raised him up. He’s the one God has exalted and seated at his right hand as our saviour and Champion. He is the provider of grace as the Redeemer of Israel. We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God freely gives to all who believe him.’ … ‘if this movement is of God, you won’t be able to stop it. And you might discover that you were fighting God all along!’ ...The apostles left rejoicing, thrilled that God had considered them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus. And nothing stopped them! They kept preaching every day in the temple courts and went from house to house, preaching the gospel of Jesus, God’s Anointed One!”
Listen to what the Word Says, Obey and Share.
S: What strikes you in this story?
O: Have you thought what it means to be “worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus”?
S: Even in the face of persecution, “they kept preaching every day”. Are there ways you can share the good news of the kingdom every day?
Be My Spirit-led Witnesses Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.”
“When the anointing comes upon us – it breaks the yoke of bondage. Habits and mindsets that are dealt with, are radically changed in the secret place with God. Breakthrough is a significant and dramatic overcoming of obstacles, limitations, allowing a completion of a process and that moves you into a whole new level or state. In the presence of God the impossible becomes possible.” (Hetland, p43)
“All things are possible to him who believes…They are less difficult to him who hopes, they are more easy to him who loves, and still more easy to him who perseveres in the practice of these three virtues.” (Brother Lawrence, c.1614–1691)
Romans 12:2 NLT “...let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do.”
