Discern the Holy Spirit’s Leading
DAY 30: THU 30 MAR, 17
“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” (Romans 8:14)
Come and Rest in My PresenceSons and daughters, be attuned in prayer to your Father in heaven!
As you worship, ponder Galatians 5:25 “If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.”
“As you go deeper in His Presence, he Lord also reveals His heart to you. He comes to us in different measures, tones and modes…Your faculties become so sensitive in His Presence.” “God’s Presence comes in waves. Be sensitive to the flow of the Holy Spirit within you. Watch out for impressions rising within your heart as the Spirit of God leads you deeper. As our hearts and our thoughts focus on Him, our whole being responds to Him -our emotions, creativity, passion, faith and dreams are awakened. Joy, peace and love also fill our hearts.” (Hetland, p18)

“They prophesied to Paul repeatedly, warning him by the Holy Spirit not to set foot in Jerusalem. When it was time for us to leave and be on our way, everyone—men, women, and children—accompanied us out of the city down to the beach. After we all knelt in the sand and prayed together, we kissed one another, said our good-byes, and boarded the ship, while the believers went back to their homes…During our stay of several days [in Caserea], Agabus, a prophet from Judea, came to visit us. As a prophetic gesture, he took Paul’s belt and tied his own hands and feet with it as he prophesied, ‘The Holy Spirit says, “The one who owns this belt will be tied up in this same way by the Jews and they will hand him over to those who are not Jews.” When we heard this, both we and the believers of Caesarea begged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. But Paul replied, ‘Why do you cry and break my heart with your tears? Don’t you know that I’m prepared not only to be imprisoned but to die in Jerusalem for the sake of the wonder of the name of our Lord Jesus?’ Because we couldn’t persuade him, we gave up and said nothing more except “May the will of the Lord be done.”
Personal discernment is challenging! Paul heard the warnings of the Holy Spirit and many times the Spirit led Paul to avoid or be protected from arrest or death. But Paul accepted that he would be persecuted and probably killed as part of his calling (Acts 9:15-16) and he did not let this deter him when he discerned God’s Spirit leading him to go to Jerusalem and Rome. (See also Acts 19:21, 23:11, 27:24)
Paul’s willingness to be arrested, to suffer and die for Christ meant God could take him from court to court before leaders he could not otherwise have met. In this way he fulfilled his destiny to preach Jesus before “kings” in many nations.

S: Are you willing to risk embarrassment, or worse, to obey God’s will and share Jesus with others?
Be My Spirit-led Witnesses Luke 19:10 “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Be My House of Prayer Father, may my heart be pure and my will pliable - so I can be led by You. Pour out Your Spirit upon Your Church and all people so we are prepared to follow Your lead; to stand for life and to withstand opposition, persecution, imprisonment and death in order that the gospel is preached.
Lord, we pray today for those in authority in our nation and the world to submit to Your appointment and Lordship. May they discern the Holy Spirit's leading and align with Your perfect will and Jesus’ kingdom today and every day.
Holy Spirit, come upon us and lead us in how we pray:
Pray for your prayer list and family and friends to receive Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Pray for Australia to receive Jesus as Lord and for His Church to be His House of Prayer.
Pray for a new generation of young prayer warriors and evangelists to arise in Jesus’ revival and transformation in our nation.
“…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses..." (Acts 1:8)
