The House of Prayer“I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you... I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” (Romans 1:15-16)
Come and Rest in My Presence Declare: “You have said, ‘Seek my face.’ My heart says to you, ‘Your face, Lord, do I seek.’” (Psalm 27:8) “The goal of soaking* prayer is communion and intimacy. It is coming to God face to face. The focus is God and not self. We come for God Himself and not to ask for answers to our needs. Intimacy necessitates deep communion, and communion requires sharing of intimate thoughts and feelings. Developing intimacy with God warrants time. It takes time to go deep. Communion is taking the time to search His heart and allowing our hearts to be yielded and open to His inner workings. When we gaze upon Him, we see the face of a Friend. In intimacy, He reveals to us His secrets and He gives us keys of the Kingdom of God. Finally we reached Philippi, a major city in the Roman colony of Macedonia, and we remained there for a number of days. When the Sabbath day came, we went outside the gates of the city to the nearby river, for there appeared to be a house of prayer and worship there. Sitting on the riverbank we struck up a conversation with some of the women who had gathered there. One of them was Lydia, a businesswoman from the city of Thyatira who was a dealer of exquisite purple cloth and a Jewish convert. While Paul shared the good news with her, God opened her heart to receive Paul’s message. She devoted herself to the Lord, and we baptized her and her entire family. Afterward she urged us to stay in her home, saying, ‘Since I am now a believer in the Lord, come and stay in my house.’ So we were persuaded to stay there. Matthew 21:13 “He said to them, ‘It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer…’ In Luke 10:1-24 Jesus sends ordinary disciples like us to establish his kingdom in local houses. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
