The Spirit of Holiness“May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the Presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.” (1 Thessalonians 3:13)
Come and Rest in My Presence “Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart… He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.” (Psalm 24:3-6) “You must be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from the other peoples to be mine…God is holy and because we belong to Him we are holy. Holiness includes an overwhelming sense of belonging….To be His own is the very essence of what it means to be a disciple of Christ. ” (Leviticus 20:26 ) (Paul Wemmer, p91) Humbly seek the Spirit of Holiness to dwell and remain in you through the grace of Jesus Christ. Pray 1 Thessalonians 3:13 (above) for those on your Prayer List. Receive My PowerReading: Acts 11 ESV Audio Bible Follow Peter’s journey Map 17 Extract: Acts 11:1,15,17-28 TPT “The news travelled fast and soon reached the apostles and the believers living in Judea that non-Jewish people were also receiving God’s message of new life. Shortly after I [Peter] began to speak, the Holy Spirit was poured out upon them, just like what happened to us at the beginning… So I concluded that if God is pleased to give them the same gift of the Holy Spirit that he gave us after they believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who am I to stand in the way of God?” When they heard this, their objections were put to rest and they all glorified God, saying, ‘Look what God has done! He’s giving the gift of repentance that leads to life to people who aren’t even Jews.’ “Because of the persecution triggered by Stephen’s death in Jerusalem, many of the believers were scattered. Some reached as far as the coast of Lebanon, the island of Cyprus, and Antioch of Syria, but they were still only preaching the word to Jews. However, some of the believers from Cyprus and Cyrene, who had come to Antioch in Syria, preached to the non-Jews living there, proclaiming the message of salvation in the Lord Jesus. The mighty power of the Lord was with them as they ministered, and a large number of people believed and turned their hearts to the Lord.” “News of what was happening in Antioch reached the church of Jerusalem, so the apostles sent Barnabas to Antioch as their emissary. When he got there and witnessed for himself God’s marvellous grace, he was enthused and overjoyed. He encouraged the believers to remain faithful and cling to the Lord with passionate hearts. Barnabas was a good man, full of the Spirit of holiness, and he exuded a life of faith. Because of his ministry even more crowds of people were brought to the Lord! Barnabas left for Tarsus to find Saul and bring him back to Antioch. Together Saul and Barnabas ministered there for a full year, equipping the growing church and teaching the vast number of new converts. It was in Antioch that the followers of Jesus were first revealed as ‘anointed ones.’” Listen to what the Word Says, Obey and Share. S: What is God saying to you through this? O: Could you be described as "good, full of the Spirit of holiness and exuding a life of faith"? “Many times we lower the standard based on our level of expectation instead of adjusting our experiences to the level of His intentions and desires for us which He revealed in His Word. Jesus is the standard of God. His life gives a clear picture of how to live a life fully surrendered to the will of the Father and 100% dependent on the empowering of the Holy Spirit.” (Hetland, p60) The 24/7 news-feeds and social media reflect our culture’s futility of mind, darkened understanding, ignorance and alienation from the life of God. Due to hardness of heart, many have become callous and given themselves up to sensuality and are greedy to practice every kind of impurity. It seems things are much like they were in Ephesus in Paul’s day. (Ephesians 4:17-21) The message of life is Good News! In Christ we are putting off our old self and the corrupt, deceitful desires of our former manner of life and being renewed in the spirit of our minds, and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:22-24) “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:1-2) S: Encourage this new generation of prayer warriors and evangelists in the way Barnabas did.
